Module 8 Video Discussion

1. Explain why you selected the video you choose from the selection listed above.

Cataclysm: The Black Death Visits Tuscany - Honestly the title hooked me

2. For each video list/discuss the key concepts you learned.

(first video) - The Egyptians liked to draw their profiles 2 Dimensional, looking front on, with the head turned to the side. They would make the arms put together and all fingers the same length. Then the feet would face the same direction and face would be seen straight on. 

Cataclysm: The Black Death Visits Tuscany - When the black death hit, a lot of the architecture was never finished and almost half the population didn't make it through. People traveling through infected areas was one of the ways it spread so quickly.

3. How do the videos relate to the readings in the text?

(first video) - The video goes more in depth with the reasoning behind the different Egyptian art styles, while the reading mainly talks about just the pieces and styles.

Cataclysm: The Black Death Visits Tuscany - The video discusses more about the effects of the black death and why so many people chose to paint/draw spiritual pieces. 

4. What is your opinion of the films? How do they add depth to understanding of the readings and art concepts?

(first video) - I think the film added depth and understanding because it not only talks about the different art styles of the Egyptians, but why they might have drawn a certain way over another. It's easier to understand a concept when there is reasoning behind it.

Cataclysm: The Black Death Visits Tuscany - The film adds depth and understanding because I enjoyed learning about what people went through during the black death. It helps me understand why maybe they chose to paint/draw what they did during the time period.
